Picture2Airshow News, Las Vegas, NV — The United States Air Force Thunderbirds military jet demonstration squadron returns along with Country Music’s Recording Artist Travis Tritt to headline the 2016 Wings Over North Georgia airshow, taking place October 29-30, 2016 at Rome’s Russell Regional Airport.  The official announcements were made as part of the International Council of Air Shows’ (ICAS) convention held earlier this week in Las Vegas at the Rio Hotel & Convention Center.

During the fifth annual Wings Over North Georgia airshow next fall, the Thunderbirds will be flying their six signature red, white and blue F-16 Falcons, accompanied on the concert series stage Saturday night by Travis Tritt, a hometown country music Grammy winning voice from Marietta, Georgia.  “After months of planning and hard work, inclement weather forced us to cancel Saturday’s airshow activities in 2015, but thankful we delivered the full scheduled Sunday airshow,   Hosting the USAF Thunderbirds with Travis Tritt next year will be the best medicine available for all the disappointed fans who were unable to fully experience our 2015 premiere airshow,” said John Cowman, JLC AirShow Management President.  “Very few show sites throughout our country and internationally receive this great honor!  We are so proud for Rome, Georgia to be selected again to host a world-class military jet team.  Bringing this patriotic opportunity of sharing the USAF Thunderbirds and Travis Tritt with the people of Floyd County & Northwest Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee completely satisfies everyone’s expectations.”

The USAF Thunderbirds are internationally-known for their hard-charging demonstration of precision formation flying while pushing their F-16 Fighting Falcons to the limit.  This is the second time that the Thunderbirds will appear at Wings Over North Georgia.  Known as “America’s Ambassadors in Blue”, the Thunderbirds have traveled throughout the world performing before millions of spectators.  Their distinctive red, white and blue F-16 Falcon jets along with their precise routines make the Thunderbirds a must see at next year’s Wings Over North Georgia air show.

The Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon, which will be demonstrated at 2016 edition of Wings Over North Georgia, represents the full range of capabilities possessed by the Air Force’s front-line tactical fighters.  This highly maneuverable, multi-role fighter has proved to be one of the world’s best precision tactical bombers and air-to-air combat aircraft.  The only modifications needed to prepare aircraft for air demonstrations are a smoke-generating system and the addition of Thunderbird colors.

In addition to the Thunderbirds and Travis Tritt performances; the weekend attractions will include the KCBS sanctionedSmoke-n-Thunder BBQ Classic “DOUBLE” competition plus lots of family-friendly activities, static displays, fireworks and world-class airshow performances.  Additional performers and attractions including the latest lineup is available at www.WingsOverNorthGeorgia.com.
